Chcago Tribune Editorials for collar-county offices

State's attorney: All many voters may know about State's Attorney James Glasgow is his office's victories in two recent high-profile cases: the rocky but successful prosecution of former Bolingbrook cop Drew Peterson for the 2004 murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, and the swift conviction of Christopher Vaughn for murdering his wife and three children inside the family's SUV. We'd add that Glasgow, a Democrat, runs a professional and effective office. He has earned the nod over Republican Dave Carlson, an attorney from Plainfield.

Auditor: Incumbent Duffy Blackburn, a Democrat, has improved services and cut operating costs. He gets the nod over Republican Mark Batinick, a real estate agent, contractor and developer from Plainfield.

Circuit Court clerk: Democrat Pamela McGuire makes a good argument that she has modernized the office and made it more user-friendly for citizens. She is preferred over Marlene Carlson, of Mokena, a computer systems engineer.
