Will County officials to weigh options for $195 million courthouse

The current courthouse has 23 courtrooms in a four-story building.

The eighth and ninth floors will be built as shells with space for 10 additional courtrooms. The plan calls for six security screening stations with over 100 queuing spaces inside the building so people will not have to wait outside, as they do now when the courthouse opens.

Lower floors will house the "higher volume functions," such as the court clerk's office, and be accessible by escalators, with elevators for the upper floors, Dwyer said.

The new judicial center also will include offices for the state's attorney, judges' chambers, jury rooms and a law library.
