Will County helps enroll 940 in Obamacare

The health department overall received more than 2,500 public inquiries on their Affordable Care Act public information line during the final quarter of 2013, Reato said, and hosted 212 meetings with community stakeholders designed to inform them about available county resources.

Reato said last year that there were an estimated 70,000 Will County residents who could be eligible for Obamacare.

When asked about the gap between enrollments and calls about the system, Reato said some folks often would just call with questions and then enroll themselves.

"We fielded a tremendous volume of calls early on from individuals who just wanted Obamacare information," Reato said. "Many of the people who ultimately enrolled didn't do so until the last minute. During December, we averaged enrolling nearly 10 individuals or families daily."
