The fix is in for Stuenkel Road near GSU

Author: Editor

As Will County Board member Walter Adamic, D-Joliet, aptly noted during a recent meeting, “The road to college can be a bumpy one.”

But Will County officials have teamed up with the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association and the village of University Park to make sure that students traveling along Stuenkel Road — aka University Parkway — have a less bumpy ride to Governors State University.

Will County native named county's new budget director

Author: Editor

A Will County native has been named to the newly created budget director position within the Will County Executive’s office. ReShawn Howard of Shorewood was approved at today’s Will County Board meeting. This position will work with the county’s finance director Karen Hennessy.

With the rapid growth of Will County and increased demands on the finance department, Will County Executive Larry Walsh reorganized the structure of his budget and financial staff to better serve the residents. Walsh promoted Karen Hennessy to the redefined role of Finance Director, responsible for the oversight of day-to-day financial operations, the outside audit, and the preparation of the County’s annual financial report. The Budget Director will focus on the development and monitoring of the County’s annual budget and long term capital planning. Both positions will be funded within the constraints of the existing budget.

Will County Dems tap two for county board contests in the fall

Author: Editor

Will County Democrats have appointed two candidates to run for the Will County board in the November election.

In District 2, Donald Keane, of Frankfort, will challenge Republicans Jim Moustis, of Frankfort, the board’s Republican caucus chair, and Cory Singer, a former board member who lost his bid for county executive in 2012. Current board member David Izzo, R-Tinley Park, is not seeking re-election.

Appointing Plainfield resident Sheila Raddatz, a teacher, to fill one vacancy in District 5, will increase incumbent Democrat Reed Bible’s and Raddatz’s chances of getting elected, he said. They will run against a single Republican candidate, Darren Bennefield, who recently was appointed to that seat after board member Lee Ann Goodson, resigned.
