Will County helps enroll 940 in Obamacare

Author: Editor

Will County officials helped enroll 940 residents into the new federal health insurance system known as Obamacare in recent months, officials said.

The county health department's part in helping residents go online and choose a new health care plan was made possible by two grants that funded six counselors who worked to make the enrollment process run more smoothly, according to health department spokesman Vic Reato.

The 940 residents enrolled from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31 the number likely would have been higher if not for the fact that county employees were on strike for three weeks late last year, Reato said.

Will County therapy dog program helps youngest victims cope

Author: Editor

Jackson might be the most popular staff member at the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center, and with good reason. The 4-year-old therapy dog provides children — and their families — a source of comfort during a time when they need it most.

“Jackson is infinitely patient, calm and loving,” said Sue Bloch, executive director of the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center. “He is a perfect fit to greet and spend time with the children visiting the center.”

The Will County Children’s Advocacy Center was established in 1995 by State’s Attorney Jim Glasgow as a way to improve the way child abuse cases are investigated.
