The first domino in Will County's long-term building plan fell this week with the approval of a contract to purchase the First Midwest Bank building at 50 W. Jefferson St., the proposed site of a new Will County courthouse.
The Will County Board's capital improvements committee was appraised of the development this week, and the $4 million purchase deal is expected to close sometime this summer.
First Midwest will lease the first floor of the building from the county for up to two years after the closing.

“Every little bit can make a difference,” said Hyzer, the county’s environmental educator who heads up the countywide program.
More than 50 schools were recognized Wednesday for their earth-friendly efforts during the Earth Flag School’s annual awards ceremony held at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet.
