Jennifer Bertino, Will Co. regional superintendent wins 2012 Athena Award

Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, WillCounty regional superintendent of schools, was the 2012 recipient of the Athena Award.

The award was presented last week by Russ Slinkard, president/CEO of the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at the annual Athena Luncheon at the Holiday Inn Joliet Hotel and Conference Center.

Foster discusses jobs, economy at meeting with Naper Chamber

Job creation was the main focus as Congressional candidateBill Foster talked to the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce during a luncheonThursday.

Foster, a Naperville residentwho served as representative in the 14th Congressional District from March 2008to January 2011, is locked in a tight race with U.S. Rep. Judy Biggert(R-Hinsdale) in the newly-created 11th Congressional District which includes Naperville, Aurora and Joliet.

“In the early 2000s, we fell off a cliff,” he said of theeconomy. He blamed what he called misguided policies that failed to protect theAmerican manufacturing sector.

7 Democrats returned to Will County Board ballot

A ruling by the 3rd District Appellate Court will put sevenDemocratic candidates for Will County Board back on the Nov. 6 ballot.

Scott Pyles, chairman of the Democratic Party and one of the attorneys who worked on the appeal, said he was informed of the court’sdecision Wednesday.

The ruling reverses one by the Will County Electoral Boardthat had then been upheld in Will County Circuit Court.

Code violations bring back issue of new building for Wheatland Township
